If you can, visit on a weekday, especially around 1 PM. It's way less crowded than the weekends, and you can actually enjoy the exhibits without constantly dodging other tourists!
I recommend checking out the feeding times for the animals, since that's when the exhibits get super lively and it's a great photo op. It's fun to see the sea lions get their snacks!
My advice is to bring your own snacks and water. The café is kind of pricey, and you'll want to save your money for the cool gifts in the gift shop.
