My advice is to try the off-peak hours for your rental. We went around 3 PM and it was super busy, which made the process drag on. Early mornings are a breeze.
I think you should definitely check the gear condition before you leave the shop. I got a pair of boots that were slightly worn out and it really affected my day on the slopes. Next time I'll be more vigilant!
