I think tipping the staff generously pays off big time... I made some great connections and got better service, plus it just feels good!
My advice is to sit close to the stage if you want the best view. Being up front really amps up the experience, trust me!
If you're on a budget, I'd recommend going on a weeknight around 8 PM. The drinks are cheaper and it's not as crowded, so you can really enjoy the atmosphere.
