My advice is to wear thicker socks when renting skates. I didn't and my feet were sore afterwards. Lesson learned!
I think it's best to go during the afternoon on a weekday it's way less crowded then. I had a blast skating without bumping into too many people!
Don't forget to bring a light jacket, it can get a bit chilly inside, especially if you're not skating actively. I was frozen at times!
