I think renting a kiteboard for a day is totally worth it. The rental prices can be negotiable, so don't be afraid to ask for a discount! I got a good deal by chatting with the shop owner.
I recommend snorkeling at nearby spots, not just the beach. I found a great place just a short walk down the shore. You can find some awesome marine life without a guide.
My advice is to try the local food! The beachside shacks offer delicious cheap meals, much better than the pricier restaurants. I loved the fresh fish tacos.
