I think renting a surfboard from local shops is way better than those touristy places. You'll get a better price and some insider tips from the locals. Just make sure to hase your negotiation skills ready!

I suggest getting to Ipanema by 8 AM to snag a good spot on the beach. By noon, it gets super crowded, and you'll find it tough to settle down with your stuff.
