If you can swing it, buy a CityPASS online. It saves you some bucks and gets you access to a couple of other attractions too.
Check the weather before you go. A clear day makes all the difference; I went on a cloudy day, and the views weren’t great
I recommend visiting the observation deck right when it opens at 9 AM. It's way less crowded, and you can enjoy the views without fighting for a spot.
