I think it’s worth checking out the free audio guides—they offer great insights into selected paintings. I missed it at first but ended up super glad I picked one up!

My advice is to start with the 'Sainsbury Wing' to catch some of the most famous works right off the bat. If you head there first, you’ll avoid the rush when the tour groups arrive later in the morning

I recommend downloading the National Gallery app before your visit. It has maps and info about the artworks, which made it way easier to navigate and find my favorites without wasting time.
