I think trying to learn a few basic Spanish phrases helped a ton. The locals really appreciated it, and it made interactions smoother. Plus, it might save you from a few awkward moments!

My advice is to carry enough snacks, especially local fruits, for energy during the hike. I wish I had packed some instead of relying on the limited options at the campsites.
