I recommend using the local buses from San Salvador to save some cash... It's an adventure itself, and way cheaper than a taxi... Just make sure to check the bus times before heading back!
Try to arrive by 7 AM to catch the best views before the crowds show up and the cloud cover sets in. I missed out on some stunning shots because I got there too late.
For the best experience, definitely check out the mirador trail. I found some gorgeous viewpoints there! Just be prepared for some steep sections; I might have misjudged my fitness level a bit!
