My advice is to book your ferry tickets in advance, especially during peak season. I missed one because I thought I could walk up and get a spot, but it was full!
I recommend taking a snorkel tour that includes multiple spots. I opted for a half-day tour and it was worth it. We got to see more than just one area which saved time and money.
