Definitely check out the outdoor areas first. I spent too much time indoors and the tar pits are super fascinating with the bubbling tar - you can get some great pics!

My advice is to buy your tickets online in advance. It saved me so much time waiting in line, and I even got a small discount.

I suggest bringing snacks or a picnic. The cafe inside is kinda pricey and I didn’t find the food that great. I wish I had packed my own food!
