I suggest checking the weather a week in advance. It can change fast in the mountains, and I regretted not being better prepared for a sudden rainstorm last time!
If you're staying in Chamonix, consider investing in a multi-day lift pass. It saved me loads on getting to some trailheads, plus the views from the lifts are incredible!
Pack your own snacks and lunch instead of relying on mountain huts... The prices can be sky-high at some stops, and you can enjoy your meal with a killer view for way less!
