I suggest renting a surfboard from local shops instead of the beach vendors; it saved me a ton of money and I got better quality boards. Plus, I met some cool locals who gave me tips on the best waves.

My advice is to try the local seafood at places off the main street. The food is fresh and way cheaper than the touristy spots. I found this awesome little place called 'El Sabrosito' that I can't stop thinking about.
