Park Mont Royal
If you're going for the views, try to hit the lookout spot by 8 AM - beautiful sunrise light and way fewer folks around! Trust me, it's a quiet start to the day
Wear comfy shoes! Seriously, I underestimating the trails, and my feet were not happy by the end of the day. You’ll be doing more walking than you think.
Montreal Botanical Garden
La Fontaine Park
I think it’s great to explore the little paths off the main walkways. You’ll find cozy spots and maybe even some local art installations that aren’t super touristy.
I suggest bringing your own snacks and drinks to save money at La Fontaine Park. The cafes can be a bit pricey, and having a picnic on the grass is so much more fun!
Olympique de Montreal Park
Don’t miss the Biodome! It was one of my favorite parts, but I almost overlooked it. Allocate a couple of hours for it to really enjoy
Zhari Park
If you can, check out the park during the week, especially Tuesday or Wednesday. Way less crowded and you can enjoy the views without having to dodge too many people.
I suggest hitting the trails in the early morning, around 8 AM. The fresh air feels awesome and you'll get some great photos with less glare from the daily sun.
Mont Royal
Lake Castor
Jean-Mans Park
Check out the maps available online before you go. I got lost trying to find the best trails, and wasted about 30 mins just wandering. A little prep can go a long way!
Pack a picnic. I didn't, and ended up spending way too much on overpriced snacks at the café. There are some nice spots to relax with your own food, plus you'll save a few bucks.
Bring your own water bottle. You can refill it at fountains around the park, and it saved me from spending cash on drinks. I think staying hydrated really made my day more enjoyable.
Angrignon Park
If you're planning to go on a sunny day, bring your own snacks and drinks. There are a few vendors around, but they can get pricey. I wish I had packed a picnic!
Skip the small coffee shop inside if you're on a budget - it's overpriced! I found a nice café just a 10-minute walk away with much better prices.
If you love birdwatching, bring binoculars! There are tons of bird species here, and I was pleasantly surprised by how many I spotted. Just wish I had a better camera!
