Fishing Bastion
Heroes Square

Definitely try to visit early in the morning, around 8 AM, to avoid the crowds and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. It’s stunning without all the hustle.

If you’re into photography, golden hour right before sunset is just magnificent here. The lighting makes the statues pop beautifully.

Check the scheduled events before you go. Sometimes they have free concerts or activities which can add a fun vibe to your visit.
Chain Bridge
Central Market

Try to go early in the morning around 8 AM to beat the crowds. The market is quieter and you can get some fresh produce without the hustle and bustle. Plus, the vendors are super friendly and have more time to chat!

If you’re looking to save some money, check out the upstairs food court for lunch. You can find plenty of options for under 2000 HUF, which is way cheaper than most sit-down restaurants in the area.

Take a few minutes to explore the upper level, too. That's where the hidden gems are, like hand-crafted goods and local art. It’s less chaotic up there!

Don't forget to sample the local street food! I highly recommend the lángos (fried dough) topped with sour cream and cheese. It’s cheap filling and delicious a perfect snack while you explore!
Basilica of St. Stephen
Citadel
Don’t overlook the museums inside the Citadel. I didn’t go in first thinking it wasn’t worth it, but they were actually really interesting and added to my experience.

Make sure to bring water and snacks. The kiosks can be pricey and I ended up paying too much for a bottle of water. Just pack a little picnic!

Consider taking the bus or tram to save on parking fees. I spent a fortune on parking – the public transport is super convenient and way cheaper!

While exploring, check out the little trails on the hill. I stumbled onto some hidden spots that gave amazing views of the city and they weren’t crowded at all!
Fountain of Margaret Island

Make sure to bring a picnic blanket! I saw so many people lounging around, and I really regret not packing snacks. The lawn area is perfect for a chill picnic while enjoying the fountain show.

If you're into photography, the golden hour is magical here! I went around sunset, and the light made the fountain look stunning. Bring your camera or phone for some great shots

Definitely try to visit the fountain on a weekday afternoon to avoid the weekend crowds. I went on Saturday, and it got pretty packed. Midweek, the vibe is so much more relaxed!

I think walking around Margaret Island after visiting the fountain is a highlight. I rushed off too quickly, but there's so much beautiful nature and paths to explore, it's worth extra time.
The Great Synagogue

Buy your tickets online in advance. I almost missed out on a time slot because I thought I could just walk in. Trust me, it saves a ton of time!

I highly recommend visiting the Great Synagogue early in the day, around 9 AM. You'll beat the crowds and have more time to soak in the beautiful architecture without feeling rushed.

If you can, plan your visit on a weekday rather than the weekend. There's a noticeable difference in the number of visitors, making for a better experience overall.
Check out the kosher café inside the complex. I grabbed a snack and a drink there – it was delicious and I've heard it's quite reasonably priced for Budapest!
Hungarian Parliament Building

If you're on a budget, skip the audio guide. I found the written materials provided were more than enough to enjoy the visit without spending extra.

Pssst, don’t forget to visit the café on the lower level! Their pastries are delish, and you can enjoy a nice quiet break from the hustle and bustle.

An tip I picked up was to explore the area around the Parliament after your visit. The nearby Kossuth Lajos Square has some great spots to hang out and take photos.

Make sure to check out the Crown Jewels. They’re so fascinating! But, I wish I had more time for it; I could’ve stared for ages.
Erzsebet Bridge

I recommend grabbing a coffee or pastry at a nearby café before hitting the bridge. It’ll give you some energy and make the experience even better!

I suggest taking a stroll along the Danube River at sunset. The view of the bridge lit up is absolutely stunning and makes for great photos!

I think it's smart to wear comfortable shoes. You might end up walking more than you think around the area, plus the bridge itself is a nice place to wander!

My advice is to visit during weekdays if you can. The weekends can get pretty crowded, and you might end up waiting for a good spot to take pictures
