Victoria Memorial

Bring some water and snacks. I found the café a bit pricey and there weren’t many options nearby.

Plan your visit around the guided tours. I joined one by chance and it made the experience way more enriching than just wandering around alone.
Science City Kolkata

My advice is to bring your own snacks and water. The food options inside can be pricey and not that great, so packing a little picnic will save you some cash and keep your energy up!

If you're into science exhibits, don't miss the Space Gallery; it's super cool! But be sure to check out the timings for the shows, because they fill up fast, and you might have to wait.

Make sure to wear comfy shoes! There's a lot of walking involved, and some exhibits can be quite far from each other... Trust me, your feet will thank you at the end of the day!
Indian Museum

I think getting there early, around 10 AM, is a game changer. You can beat the crowds and really enjoy the exhibits without feeling rushed.

I suggest using a guidebook app on your phone to get insights about the exhibits. It saved me tons of time trying to figure out what to see next

Plan to spend at least 3-4 hours there. I thought I'd do it in 2 hours, but ended up rushing through some awesome displays I wish I’d taken time to enjoy.

My advice is to skip the cafeteria food. It's kinda pricey and not that great. There are awesome local eateries just around the corner to grab a bite!
Mother's Wax Museum

make sure you have enough storage on your phone for photos! the wax figures are super lifelike, and you'll want to capture every moment. i just wish i could've taken more!
My advice is to wear comfy shoes. The museum is bigger than it looks, and you'll be walking around a lot. I regretted my choice of shoes halfway through!

Check out the food options nearby before you head in. There are some cute little cafes around that serve tasty snacks. Grab a bite after, so you're not rushed inside.
Jorasanko Thakur Bari

My advice is to take the audio guide instead of the group tour. It’s cheaper and lets you enjoy at your own pace, plus you get more insight.

Bring some extra cash for souvenirs! There are unique art pieces that I regret not buying when I visited, they'd make great memories

Try to arrive around 10 AM. I went later and faced long lines; by then, it got a bit overwhelming with the crowd.
Birla Industrial & Technological Museum

Pack a water bottle and some snacks. The museum can get tiring after a few hours, and you don’t want to waste time searching for eateries nearby.

Don't miss the hands-on science exhibits - they’re super fun! I found myself spending more time there than I expected. Makes the trip worthwhile.

I recommend visiting on a weekday to avoid the weekend crowds, especially if you want a more relaxed experience. Monday to Thursday are usually quieter.
House of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose

I suggest wearing comfy shoes. The wooden floors can be a bit slippery; I almost took a tumble! Just be careful so you can fully enjoy your experience.

I recommend visiting on a weekday, especially around 10 AM. It’s way less crowded, and you can really soak in the history without being rushed.

Make sure to check out the small cafe there. The prices are super reasonable, and I think the chaa is simply delightful. A perfect way to relax!
Ramakrishna Mission Swami Vivekananda's Ancestral House
My advice is to spend some time in the museum shop. I found some cool souvenirs I wished I had bought before leaving, and they’re often cheaper than in touristy areas.

Bring cash! Some stalls nearby only accept cash, so don’t miss out on trying those delicious local snacks after your visit.
Nehru Children's Museum

If you're bringing kids, check out the craft activities they offer; my kids loved getting hands-on! I think it's totally worth the extra time.

Look out for visitor discounts or combo tickets if you’re planning to visit other Kolkata attractions. It helped me save a bit!

Take your time in the toy section! I rushed through it, but it’s one of the most fun parts. So, give yourself at least an hour to explore.
Smaranika Tram Museum

Don’t forget to chat with the staff. They’re super friendly and can share cool stories about the trams; it adds a lot to your visit!

My advice is to grab a snack from the small cafe there since it has some cute tram-themed items. It’s a cozy spot and you can rest your feet while enjoying something local.

I suggest checking out the tram exhibits on the second floor first; they’re less crowded and you can get some great pics without others getting in the way.
