Definitely wear comfortable shoes! The cave floor is sometimes slippery and rough. I thought I'd be fine in my sneakers, but I wished I had worn my hiking boots.

My advice is to pack a picnic! The beach cafe can get pricey, and there are some beautiful spots to settle down with your own snacks. I regretted not bringing my own food.

I suggest checking the surf forecast before heading to Ballybunion. I found the waves to be awesome on Wednesday morning around 9 AM, but pretty flat the rest of the week. Saved me from disappointment!
