Piazza Maggiore
Grab a gelato from a nearby shop before heading into the square. It’s the perfect treat while you admire the stunning architecture. I tried some amazing local flavors.

Set aside some time to sit on the steps of the Basilica of San Petronio. Just relax and people-watch; it’s an awesome vibe and one of the best ways to experience the local culture.
Be ready for some surprises – the surrounding streets are narrow and winding. Explore them! You might find cute cafes and shops that you’d miss if you just stick to the main plaza

If you want to soak in the history, bring a good pair of headphones and listen to a podcast about the architecture of the buildings. It really helps enhance the experience!
Two Towers

I think it’s smart to check the weather beforehand. If it rains, the experience can be hindered and the view won't be nice. You don't want to climb just to see clouds, right?

If you're planning to climb up the Asinelli Tower, I suggest going around 9 AM right when it opens. It really helps to avoid long lines and you can enjoy the views with less crowd.

Bring some small change! There’s a lovely little café at the base of the towers, but they only accept cash. My advice is to grab a coffee there before or after your visit.

Keep in mind that the climb is pretty sturdy with over 500 steps. I suggest wearing comfy shoes – my feet were killing me by the time I got to the top!
Madonna di San Luca
Ducati Museum
Piazza Santo Stefano
Fondazione MAST

If you're on a budget, visit on Wednesdays. I noticed they have free entry for certain exhibits then, which is a great way to save some cash!

Don’t forget to check out the rooftop terrace – it's a hidden gem I almost skipped. The views over Bologna are amazing and totally worth the time

I think you should allow at least 2-3 hours to explore everything, especially if you're a fan of photography and contemporary art. There's so much to take in!
Fountain Neptune

I suggest visiting the fountain around 8 AM when it’s less crowded. You’ll get better photos and a quieter experience, plus it's nice to enjoy the morning atmosphere in the square.
Remember to explore the nearby streets after admiring the fountain. I found some charming little shops and cafes that weren't in my guidebook—makes for a great way to spend the afternoon!
Cathedral of San Pietro
Middle Market
Basilica of San Petronio

Make sure to visit around 9 AM when it opens. It's way less crowded, and you’ll get better photos without a bunch of people in the way!

I recommend bringing a small bottle of water, since it's easy to get thirsty while wandering around, and there's only one café nearby

If you want to save some cash skip the audio guide and download a free app with information. There's loads of interesting stuff to learn on your phone!
My advice is to take a moment to really explore the details inside. There are hidden gems like frescoes that you might miss if you're rushing.
