Check out the Odori Park fountains, they're stunning! However, I think it would be even better if they had more seating areas nearby to just relax and enjoy the view.

I suggest avoiding weekends if you can. It gets really crowded with local events, and finding a peaceful spot to sit becomes hard.

If you're into photography, come during the golden hour – the park looks magical then. I missed out on this and regretted it!

Patrick November 21, 2024

I recommend visiting early in the morning, like around 7 am. The park is super peaceful, and you can enjoy the morning breeze without the crowds.

Watch out for the paths! Some can be a bit bumpy; I'd suggest wearing comfortable shoes. I wished I had left my flip-flops at home!

If you're aiming for great photos, try to visit early in the morning around 7 am when the light is soft and the park is less crowded. I learned this the hard way!

user avatar
Anthony January 2, 2025

There's a small entry fee for some of the attractions in the park, but I found that just walking around was the best part—a beautiful nature walk totally free!

If you're into hiking, head up to Maruyama Mountain. It's a bit of a trek but totally worth it for the views. Give yourself about an hour to reach the top.

If you’re on a budget, pack a picnic. There are plenty of spots to spread out, and you’ll save money compared to eating at nearby cafes.

Consider renting a bike to explore the park. It sounds great in theory but the bike rental station can get crowded. Try to go mid-afternoon if you want to avoid lines.

My advice is to bring a camera with good zoom capabilities. The wildlife, especially the swans and ducks, are amazing to capture up close!

I suggest visiting right before sunset; the view is absolutely breathtaking and you can catch both day and night scenes in one go. Just make sure to check the sunset time beforehand!

William December 5, 2024

My advice is to grab a few snacks at the base before heading up. The prices at the observation deck can be a bit steep plus you'll want some energy for the hike back down!

I think taking the tram to the park is a great idea to save money on transport. The view during the ride is nice, and it’s way easier than driving around the city.
