Fushimi Inari Shrine

Kiyomizu-dera Temple
Yasaka-jinja

I think it's worth spending a few minutes at the back of the shrine. There's a lovely little garden and a small pond that most people overlook!

I suggest taking a stroll down Shijo-dori after visiting. It’s a fun shopping area, but it’s easy to miss if you’re not looking!

My advice is to wear comfy shoes. You’ll end up walking more than you think while exploring the grounds, and those stone paths can be tough!

Be aware of the festival schedule, especially in July. It could be super crowded, and some parts of the shrine get blocked off for the celebrations.
Kyoto Imperial Palace
Ginkaku-ji
Plan to arrive around 9 AM right when it opens. Trust me, the morning light on the temple is stunning and you get the place mostly to yourself for some peaceful photos!

Wear comfortable shoes! The paths can get a bit steep and there’s a lot of walking involved. I learned that the hard way and my feet were killing me by the end!
Tenryu-ji Temple

Definitely try to get there by 8:30 AM. The early morning light is perfect for photos, and the crowds are way thinner.

I suggest bringing a small coin for the temple entrance. I wasn't prepared and had to hunt for change which wasted some time.

Don’t skip the tea house by the entrance; I had a matcha set that was delicious and a nice way to recharge during my visit!

If you’re on a budget, grab some bento from a local shop on your way there. It’s a perfect picnic option in the temple gardens!
To-ji

I recommend visiting To-ji early, like around 9 am, to avoid crowds and get awesome photos of the pagoda without anyone blocking your shots. Trust me, it's totally worth it!

If you're into photography, I suggest wandering around during the golden hour. The light on the temple is just stunning then, plus you'll dodge the bigger tour groups.

You can save some cash by packing a lunch instead of eating at nearby restaurants. There are nice spots in the gardens to chill with your own food and enjoy the view!

Make sure to take your time with the gardens; I rushed through them and missed some really beautiful details. There’s a peaceful vibe that deserves a slow stroll!
