Shifen Waterfall

If you love photography, bring a tripod. The sunset view over the waterfall is stunning, but you'll need a steady hand and some time to set up. I wish I had mine!

I think it’s worth exploring the surrounding area too. There are cute little shops and cafes near the waterfall that can often be overlooked. Don’t just rush in and out!

Wear comfy shoes! The paths can get slippery with mist from the falls. I saw several people struggle in flip-flops and trust me you don't want to end up on a trip!

I recommend visiting early, like around 9 AM, to beat the crowds and catch the best light for photos. I came later and it was sooo packed!
Lin Ben Yuan Family Mansion and Garden

Don’t skip the guided tour; while I thought I could just walk through, the history and stories they share really add to the experience.

Next time, I’d definitely bring a picnic. The garden is a perfect spot to relax and enjoy some snacks without having to leave.

Make sure to bring some cash! There are little shops nearby where you can grab snacks, but not all of them accept cards.

I suggest checking the weather in advance; I went during a rain shower and it made walking around the gardens tough!
823 Memorial Park

Make sure to check the weather before you go. If it looks like rain, grab an umbrella. I got caught in a shower, and it wasn't fun!

I think it’s worth bringing a picnic! There are some lovely spots to sit and eat, and it can save you some money instead of buying snacks on-site.

If you’re into history, take time to read the plaques and exhibits; they’re really informative. I didn’t and felt I missed out on some fascinating backstory!

My advice is to wear comfortable shoes. The pathways can be a bit uneven and you'll want to explore every corner without hurting your feet.
New Taipei Metropolitan Park

I thought it'd be easy to find my way, but the trails can be a bit confusing. Download a trail map in advance to save time!

Make sure to visit the eastern side of the park for the best views of the sunset. I couldn’t believe how stunning it was!

If you're into photography, golden hour is your friend! Aim for around 6 PM for great light, trust me, it’s worth it.

I suggest hitting the park early, around 7 AM, to enjoy the fresh air and avoid crowd. It’s so peaceful then!
Linkou Community Sports Park

I suggest bringing some snacks and drinks with you. There aren’t many food stalls inside the park, and prices can be a bit high. I ended up paying way too much for just a bottle of water!

My advice is to wear comfortable shoes. The park is larger than it looks, and I felt pretty tired walking around after just an hour. Trust me, you’ll thank me later!
Hemei Mountain Trail

I suggest bringing some snacks and plenty of water. There are few spots along the trail for breaks, and trust me, you don’t want to run out of energy before reaching that gorgeous view
