Carl Cherry Center for the Arts
If you can, I recommend visiting on a Thursday around 3 PM. It was super quiet, and I had the whole place almost to myself to enjoy the art!
i suggest checking their website for upcoming exhibitions before you go. i missed a really cool art show because i didn’t know it was happening!
I think you should bring a small sketchbook or a camera. The space has some really unique features that make for great practice or photos!
Forest Theater
I suggest grabbing food from one of the nearby cafes before the show. The dining options are great and it's a nice way to relax before the performance kicks off
Check the schedule for the performances ahead of time. The seating can fill up quickly, especially for popular shows, and you don’t want to miss out! I arrived about 30 minutes early, which worked out well.
The Golden Bough Playhouse
My advice is to grab some snacks at the nearby cafe before the show starts. I ended up getting a bit hungry during intermission, and the snacks at the venue were pricey
I suggest you check their online schedule before going. Some shows can sell out fast, and I had to settle for a less popular one last time.
I really recommend arriving around 6:30 PM for a 7 PM show. You get good parking spots, and can enjoy a stroll around the charming Carmel-by-the-Sea area before settling in.
Mission San Carlos Borromeo del Río Carmelo
I suggest visiting in the afternoon, around 2 PM. It was less crowded then, and I got to enjoy the gardens without feeling rushed.
I think the audio tour is worth the few extra bucks. It added so much context to the history and helped me appreciate the mission a lot more.
Tor House
My advice is to take a walk around the area after your visit. The views are breathtaking and it's a great way to soak in the Carmel vibe. I wish I had set aside more time for that after my tour.
The Barnyard
My advice is to check out the local shops for unique finds, but grab a snack at the general store first. The prices can be a bit steep, but it’s totally worth it for the local vibe
