Check out the shuttle schedule before you go. The shuttles can save you time and hassle, especially if you're staying in Mammoth; they run regularly in summer and fall.

I highly recommend starting your day early like around 8 AM to beat the crowds and grab the best parking spots. It makes a big difference for a peaceful hike.

Don’t forget to bring layers! The weather can change quickly in the mountains. I was chilly in the morning but hot by noon, so I wish I’d layered more wisely

Bring plenty of water—it’s super easy to underestimate how thirsty you’ll get on the trail. I think packing snacks is a good move too; they really help keep your energy up!

If you can, avoid weekends. My advice is to go on a Tuesday or Wednesday. It was pretty packed when I went on a Saturday, and I wish I had better pictures without people in 'em!
