Seaport Village
Make sure to stroll through the whole area, not just stick to the waterfront. Some hidden gems are along the side paths, and you'll discover quirkier shops and art installations. Trust me, it's worth the extra time.
If you want to save some cash, consider bringing a packed lunch. There are plenty of nice spots to sit and eat without forking out big bucks at the cafes.
If you're looking for a bite to eat, skip the first few waterfront restaurants. I found a cute taco place tucked away, and the prices were way better, plus the food was delish. Don't settle for the tourist traps!
Check out the local musicians performing in the plaza area. They add a great atmosphere, and sometimes you can see some cool local talent. I ended up staying longer just to enjoy the music!
Ocean Beach Pier
I suggest you go early in the morning, around 7 AM, to catch the sunrise; it’s stunning and much quieter then. You can snap amazing pics without crowds!
If you go on a weekend, plan to arrive before noon to score a parking spot. It fills up fast, and the hours tick by trying to find one!
My advice is to wear comfy shoes; you'll want to walk the pier and explore the beach. The views are beautiful, and you won't want to rush it.
Think about bringing a light jacket; it can get a bit chilly by the water, especially around sunset. I wasn't prepared and ended up freezing!
Old Point Loma Lighthouse
Check out the tide charts before you go. I didn't realize how much the tide could affect the views from the lighthouse, so I missed some awesome coastline views.
Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcala
I recommend arriving around 9 AM to avoid the larger crowds and really soak in the peaceful atmosphere. Plus, the morning light is great for photos!
Plan to take your time exploring the gardens and surrounding areas; it's easy to miss they’re super charming and a perfect spot to relax for a bit
Spanish Village Art Center
Food options are limited inside, so I suggest bringing a snack or checking out a nearby café first. I overlooked this and wished I had a bite while exploring
Bay of San Diego
My advice is to grab a coffee at a local cafe in Little Italy before heading to the bay. It saves you money compared to touristy spots nearby, and the vibe is way better!
I think taking a stroll along the waterfront is great, but don’t ignore the view from the top of the USS Midway Museum. It’s an epic perspective of the entire bay you won’t get anywhere else!
Bridge of San Diego - Coronado
I suggest visiting the bridge around sunrise... The early light is stunning for pictures and you'll avoid the crowds... Plus, parking is way easier at that hour
