USS Midway Museum
If you're on a budget, look for combo tickets with other attractions nearby. I saved some cash that way. Totally worth it!
Seaport Village
Make sure to stroll through the whole area, not just stick to the waterfront. Some hidden gems are along the side paths, and you'll discover quirkier shops and art installations. Trust me, it's worth the extra time.
If you want to save some cash, consider bringing a packed lunch. There are plenty of nice spots to sit and eat without forking out big bucks at the cafes.
If you're looking for a bite to eat, skip the first few waterfront restaurants. I found a cute taco place tucked away, and the prices were way better, plus the food was delish. Don't settle for the tourist traps!
Check out the local musicians performing in the plaza area. They add a great atmosphere, and sometimes you can see some cool local talent. I ended up staying longer just to enjoy the music!
Ocean Beach Pier
I suggest you go early in the morning, around 7 AM, to catch the sunrise; it’s stunning and much quieter then. You can snap amazing pics without crowds!
If you go on a weekend, plan to arrive before noon to score a parking spot. It fills up fast, and the hours tick by trying to find one!
My advice is to wear comfy shoes; you'll want to walk the pier and explore the beach. The views are beautiful, and you won't want to rush it.
Think about bringing a light jacket; it can get a bit chilly by the water, especially around sunset. I wasn't prepared and ended up freezing!
Mt. Soledad National Veterans Memorial
If you're looking to save some bucks, pack a snack instead of hitting the cafes. The prices at the nearby shops can be a bit steep!
I think you should stay until sunset if you can. The colors in the sky over the ocean are something you don’t want to miss!
I recommend bringing a camera for sure! The panoramic views of San Diego are breathtaking and you'll want to snap some pics.
I suggest visiting around 9 AM to catch the sunrise views. The light is amazing and it won't be too crowded yet.
San Diego Air & Space Museum
I recommend packing some snacks or lunch. The food options inside can be pricy, and it’s nice to take a break outside in the park area
If you want to save on admission, look for combo tickets online that include other attractions. I wish I had done that because it’s a great deal!
I suggest checking out the planetarium shows – they’re super cool and really enhance the experience! Just make sure to get your tickets in advance to avoid sellouts.
San Diego Maritime Museum
I suggest visiting the Star of India first. It has the most interesting exhibits, and you won’t want to miss it before the crowds pile in. Aim for around 11 AM.
San Diego Natural History Museum
Old Point Loma Lighthouse
Check out the tide charts before you go. I didn't realize how much the tide could affect the views from the lighthouse, so I missed some awesome coastline views.
Fleet Science Center
Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcala
I recommend arriving around 9 AM to avoid the larger crowds and really soak in the peaceful atmosphere. Plus, the morning light is great for photos!
Plan to take your time exploring the gardens and surrounding areas; it's easy to miss they’re super charming and a perfect spot to relax for a bit
