Gulf Shores Public Beach

i suggest bringing your own umbrella or beach chair to save on rental costs. i didn't and ended up spending way too much on a rental.

Parking can be tricky during peak hours, so consider carpooling or using rideshare services if you can. I found free parking a few blocks away, which saved me a hassle

I think it’s worth it to bring snacks or a cooler; food vendors can be pricey and the quality isn't always that great. We packed sandwiches and enjoyed a beach picnic!

Check the local tide times before you go; low tide means wider beach and more space to set up without being right on top of other people.
City Park

Make sure to wear comfy shoes. There’s a lot of ground to cover, and my feet were killing me by the end. I could've used better sneakers!

Bring a picnic. There are plenty of shaded spots and amazing views. I saved a ton by snacking instead of buying overpriced food inside.

If you're into jogging or biking, I suggest hitting the paths early in the morning around 7 AM. The fresh air is lovely and the park is quiet.

Okay, so I totally underestimated how hot it gets. Bring sunscreen and a water bottle; the Sun can be relentless, even in early fall!
The Audubon Aquarium of the Americas

Check out the feeding times! I found that watching the penguins get fed around 11 AM was one of the highlights. It’s a great photo op and a fun experience for everyone.

Don’t forget to check out the gift shop before you leave! I found some unique souvenirs and they even have deals towards the end of the day.

Plan to spend at least 2-3 hours there. There's so much to see, and I found that rushing through made me miss a lot of the cool exhibits and details.

My advice is to wear comfortable shoes. You’ll be doing a fair amount of walking, and the floors can be slippery, especially near the tanks.
Louis Armstrong Park

I recommend taking a stroll down the path toward the Congo Square area. It's a beautiful part of the park and often has live music on weekends. Just be prepared for a crowd.

One thing I learned is to bring your own snacks. There aren't many food options inside the park, and the ones nearby can be pricey. Pack a picnic for a nice break!
Audubon Zoo

I suggest hitting the zoo right when it opens at 10 am. It's way less crowded and you get to see the animals active before the heat sets in. Bring a water bottle to stay hydrated.
New Orleans Botanical Garden

My advice is to bring your own food and drinks. The cafe can be pricey and options are limited. Picnicking in the gardens is a lovely experience and saves you some cash!
Palmer Park

I recommend checking out the local artists' market on Saturdays; it's a great way to support local creators and grab unique souvenirs without breaking the bank. Plus, the vibe is super friendly!
