Nature Places Map
Nature in Austin:
Barton Springs Municipal Pool
Plan to stay for sunset; it’s stunning and really worth the wait. The pool has this magical feeling as the sun goes down, and it gets a bit quieter too.
Hippie Hollow Park
Get there early, around 9 AM, to snag a good spot and enjoy the peaceful vibe before it gets crowded. Trust me, it's worth it!
I recommend exploring the trails around the park – they're often overlooked but offer some stunning views and a nice escape from the crowds
Mount Bonnell
If you're on a budget, pack a picnic! There are plenty of spots to sit and enjoy the scenery without spending money on snacks at nearby shops.
get there early—like around 8 am—to beat the crowds and catch the sunrise. it's way less hectic and the views are breathtaking!
Wear good shoes! The path can get a bit steep, and I slipped a little. You'll appreciate a solid pair while tackling those steps.
The Mayfield–Gutsch Estate
If you can, bring a picnic! The grounds are so peaceful, and there are nice spots to chill. It won't cost you much and adds to the whole experience!
McKinney Falls State Park
I suggest arriving right when the park opens at 8 AM. It was so peaceful and I got some great photos before the crowds rolled in.
Barton Creek Greenbelt
Muller Lake Park
I suggest visiting Muller Lake Park in the early morning around 8 AM. It’s less crowded and you can enjoy the peaceful vibe before the day heats up.
If you're into photography, the sunset views around 6 PM are stunning. I recommend sticking around for that golden hour!
Sculpture Falls
Pack a picnic! There are some great spots to chill and enjoy the view of the falls. I brought snacks and it made for a nice break before heading back.
My advice is to check the weather before you go. If it’s been rainy, the water can be really high and not as beautiful. I went during a wet spell and the flooding wasn’t ideal!
Zilker Botanical Garden
If you're visiting Zilker Botanical Garden, try to get there around 9 AM when they open. The morning light is beautiful for photos and it’s less crowded. I really enjoyed walking around without feeling rushed.
