Ivan Vazov National Theatre

Look out for discount tickets on weekdays! I managed to snag mine for half price when I went on a Tuesday

My advice is to wear comfy shoes. The theatre is stunning, but you might end up standing or walking more than you think during intermission.

If you’re planning to snap some pics, I recommend doing it before the show. Once it starts, you might get shushed by the ushers, and nobody wants that!
Rila Monastery
St. Alexander Nevski Cathedral
Church of Saint Sophia

My advice is to bring some water and a snack. There aren’t many spots nearby, and you might end up spending more on overpriced snacks at the nearby kiosks.
Etar Open-Air Museum

If you're into photography, the best time to snap pics is just after 5 PM. The lighting makes the place look magical, and it's less crowded too!

Consider taking public transport instead of driving; parking can be tricky, especially during peak seasons. I had to park quite far away and walk back!

I recommend bringing some snacks and water. The eateries there are okay, but prices are a bit steep and you might get caught in long lines.

Don't rush through. Take a break at one of the quiet spots and soak in the vibe. I regret not sitting back and enjoying it more.
The National Palace of Culture
Tsarevets

Make sure to wear comfortable shoes! The castle grounds are pretty big and there’s a lot of walking on uneven surfaces, so leave the fancy footwear at home.

I suggest exploring the nearby town after visiting the castle. There are charming restaurants and shops, and you can find some great souvenirs without breaking the bank.

Don’t forget your camera or phone for pictures! The views of Veliko Tarnovo from the castle are breathtaking; you’ll want to capture the moment.

I recommend visiting in the late afternoon around 4 PM. The lighting is perfect for photos, and it’s less crowded—plus, the sunset views are stunning!
Assumption Cathedral

If you want a quiet moment, try to visit on a weekday. My weekend visit was packed with tourists, which kind of ruined the vibe for me.

If you're into history, spend some time reading the info plaques. They’re really informative and I found it added a lot to my visit!
Bring some small change for the candle donation; I didn’t realize I needed it and had to step out to get some. It was a small hassle!
