Lobeke National Park
I suggest checking with the local guides about the best wildlife viewing times; I found mornings around 6 AM to be amazing for spotting gorillas and other animals.
My advice is to pack light but bring good hiking shoes! The trails can be muddy and slippery, and you don't want to get stuck with heavy gear.
If you want to save money, consider buying food at local markets instead of dining at the park lodges; I found some great local options that were both tasty and budget-friendly.
Bouba Njida National Park
i suggest hiring a local guide instead of just relying on the park staff. they know all the best spots and can share great stories about the wildlife you won’t get otherwise.
Make sure to bring your own snacks and water—prices in the park can be a bit steep and there aren’t many options. I packed sandwiches, and it saved me a lot!
Bring a good pair of binoculars; you’ll definitely want to spot elephants and other wildlife from a distance. I regretted not having mine, as some moments went by too quickly!
Mefou National Park
Definitely bring some cash! The entrance fee is pretty reasonable, but you might want to buy snacks or souvenirs inside, and not all vendors take cards.
If you're planning to take photos, visit in the late afternoon. The lighting is amazing and you'll catch the animals at their most active, plus it's less crowded!
Korup National Park
I suggest bringing your own snacks and water. The park can be remote, and food options are limited inside, plus you'll save some cash. Having a picnic in the jungle is a real highlight.
Waza National Park
I suggest bringing binoculars. You'll want to see all those amazing animals up close, and they really add to the experience. I missed out because I didn’t have mine.
i recommend hiring a local guide who knows the area well. my guide pointed out hidden gems i would have totally missed, making the trip way more memorable!
Campo Reserve
I suggest visiting during the dry season, around January to March. The trails were much more accessible then, and I managed to spot so much wildlife without getting muddy
