Tatacoa Red Desert

I suggest visiting in the early morning or late afternoon to avoid the heat and catch the stunning sunrise or sunset. Trust me, the photos are worth it!

I recommend checking out the local market in Villavieja before heading to the desert. I found some delicious snacks and drinks for a fraction of the price at tourist spots!
I think renting a bike can save you time and energy while exploring the area. I walked way more than I planned and ended up missing a few cool spots!
Desierto de la Tatacoa

I recommend checking the moon phase before you go. If it’s a full moon, the stars can be hard to see, and you’ll miss out on stargazing!

I suggest bringing enough water, like a lot... It gets super hot, and you don’t wanna get dehydrated... Trust me, I learned that the hard way

I think you should pack some snacks, too. The local food options are nice, but they can be a bit pricey, especially in remote areas.

My advice is to visit the canyon in the late afternoon. The golden hour lighting makes everything look stunning for those Instagram shots!
