I highly recommend hiking up instead of taking the jeep... The views are stunning and the journey is part of the experience... Just give yourself enough time to enjoy the scenery!

Bring cash! I found out the hard way that there's no ATM close by, and some local shops just take cash. It's good to have some lari for snacks or souvenirs.

Good hiking boots are a must! The trail can get slippery, especially after rain. I wore regular sneakers once and regretted it—definitely not the best choice!

Visit in the early morning around 8 AM. It was way less crowded then which let me take some nice pictures without loads of tourists in the background.
Chalaadi Glacier

Wear good hiking shoes, but consider bringing a pair of sandals for the glacier area. You'll want to kick off your shoes and enjoy the icy water!

Start your hike by 8 AM. You'll beat the crowds and have the glacier all to yourself for some stunning photos without the rush.
Gveleti Waterfall
Ushguli to Shkhara Glacier via Enguri
Juta Pass to Chauki Lake

Wear good hiking shoes. I can't stress this enough. The trails can get rocky and slippery. I wore some old trainers and regretted it big time. Good shoes will save you from slipping and give you better grip.

if you're planning to take pictures, go for sunrise! the light is absolutely magical, and you'll avoid the crowds too. i missed that chance, and the afternoon glare made it hard to capture the beauty of chauki lake
Koruldi Lakes
my advice is to carry snacks and enough water. the hike can be tiring, and i regretted not packing enough food – those views made me hungry!
Mestia to Ushguli
Tbilisi TV Tower Hike

I suggest checking the weather before you head out. I got caught in a rain shower and it made the hike a bit tricky. On a sunny day, though, the views are totally worth it!
