I suggest downloading the museum's app before you go. It has a map and helpful info about the exhibits. I had the paper map, but the app was way more useful!
My advice is to check out the roof garden after you finish exploring. It’s less crowded and provides amazing views of Ueno Park, plus it’s a great spot to take a breather!
TeamLab Borderless
I recommend checking out their pop-up events on their website. I stumbled upon one while I was there, and it added so much to the experience! It felt spontaneous and fun!
My advice is to go on a weekday, especially between 2 PM and 4 PM, when it’s way less crowded. We went on a Thursday, and it was such a bliss!
If you're into photography, plan to spend time in the 'Forest of Light' area. It’s stunning! But get there early before it fills up with people trying to snap pics.
Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum
Buy your tickets in advance online to save time. The queues can get really long, especially on weekends.
National Center for the Arts
Edo Tokyo Museum
Make sure to wear comfy shoes! You’ll be walking a lot and I wished I had brought my sneakers instead of sandals. Trust me, your feet will thank you!
I recommend checking out the special exhibitions online before your visit. Some exhibits have extra fees, and knowing what's there might help you plan your budget better.
My advice is to grab the audio guide—it's super helpful and really enhances the experience. I almost skipped it, but I'm so glad I didn't!
Kyoto Railway Museum
Take your time in the outdoor area—there are some beautiful displays and photo ops. I rushed through it but ended up wishing I had stayed longer to appreciate everything!
Try visiting on a weekday, preferably Tuesday or Wednesday, to avoid the bigger crowds. I found it way more enjoyable with less waiting time for exhibits!
Railway Museum
If you're planning to visit the actual trains outside, bring a hat and sunscreen—there's not much shade and it can get hot.
Look for combo tickets if you’re planning on visiting other places nearby. I saved a good amount by buying a day pass that included the museum.
I suggest arriving right when it opens at 10 AM to avoid the crowds. It gets pretty busy later on, especially on weekends.
