I think bringing cash is essential. Some places don’t accept cards, and you might miss out on local snacks or hiring a guide if you’re short on cash

Don’t overspend on souvenirs in the village. You can find similar items a bit cheaper at local markets in nearby larger towns. I found some awesome handmade goods elsewhere at a better price.

I suggest trying to stay at a homestay instead of a guest house. It was a bit cramped at first, but the connection with the locals and cultural experience was totally worth it. Plus, you might score some home-cooked meals!

I think it's a good idea to visit during the dry season between November and February. I made the mistake of going in wet season and found the trails muddy and slippery. Save yourself the extra hassle and go when it’s drier!

I recommend bringing your own snacks and water – the food options inside Bokeo Nature Reserve can be super limited and pricey. Also, packing light but smart is key for trekking, so leave the excess stuff behind.
