Gauja National Park

I recommend checking out the trails early in the morning, like around 7 AM. It's way less crowded, and you can soak in the beauty without the hustle.

Don’t forget to bring snacks and water. I thought I could grab something at the visitor center, but it was closed when I got there. A packed lunch is a must!

I suggest wearing good hiking shoes. The paths can get a bit tricky and muddy, especially after rain. I slipped a couple of times and it wasn’t fun!

Check out the waterfall at Sietiņiezis. It's super picturesque, but go at sunset for the best light. I wish I’d known that for better photos
Verman Garden

I suggest visiting on a weekday, preferably around 9 AM. The garden is way less crowded then, so you can enjoy the serene beauty without the hustle and bustle.

Wear comfy shoes! The paths can get a bit uneven, and you'll want to wander around without worrying about your feet. I made the mistake of wearing sandals, and my feet weren't happy!
Riga Zoo

I recommend hitting the zoo around 10 am, right when it opens. The animals are super active then, and you can get some great pics. Plus, it’s way less crowded!

I think you should check out the seals and penguins first. They seem to be the crowd favorites and give the best shows. You won’t wanna miss them!

Don’t forget to bring some snacks or a packed lunch! The food inside is pricy and not much variety. A picnic on one of the benches is a nice break!

Here’s a tip: wear comfy shoes! You’ll be walking a lot and the terrain can be uneven in some parts. Trust me you don’t wanna end up with sore feet.
Kemeri National Park

I recommend heading there around 8 AM. The park is stunningly quiet and you'll avoid the crowds that show up by noon.

Check out the birdwatching towers. The views are amazing, but the paths to them can get muddy. I recommend wearing good boots to avoid slipping.

Bring your own water and snacks! The little kiosks charge a lot for drinks, and you’ll want energy for all the hiking. I learned that the hard way.
Jurmala Beach

Bring your own beach gear like towels and umbrellas to avoid renting them at the beach. Rental prices can add up quickly, and it's more comfortable to use your own stuff.

Definitely explore the beach early in the morning around 7 AM. It’s way less crowded, and you get the best views and a peaceful atmosphere for an early swim or a walk.

Don't miss the little wooden paths that lead through the dunes. They’re usually hidden, but trust me, they provide some of the best photo spots and a unique experience away from the crowds.
Gutman Cave

I recommend bringing a good pair of shoes. The paths can be a bit slippery and uneven, but with grippy shoes, you’ll have a much better time exploring!

My advice is to take your time inside the cave. Don’t rush through – there are some amazing rock formations, and just chillin' there made the whole trip way more enjoyable!

Check out the nearby nature trails after visiting the cave. I thought I’d just stick to the cave, but the surrounding scenery was really beautiful and worth the extra time!
Bastion Hill

I recommend visiting Bastion Hill in the late afternoon around 4 PM. The light is gorgeous for photos and it's less crowded, so you can really relax and enjoy the scenery.

Don't miss the fountain area! It’s usually less busy and perfect for a peaceful break. I sat there for a while just enjoying the music and watching the water.

Bring a good pair of walking shoes. The paths are quite nice but there's a lot to explore and you don’t want your feet to hurt halfway through!
