Tropical Trail Rides
El Yunque National Forest

Check out the La Mina Trail if you're looking for a waterfall experience. It's totally worth the hike, but I recommend wearing sturdy shoes because it can get slippery!

I suggest arriving right when the park opens around 7 AM to snag a good parking spot and avoid the crowds on popular trails... Trust me it's way more peaceful in the morning

bring your own snacks and water! the nearby shops can be pricey, and having your own food saved me some extra cash and kept my energy up while hiking.
El 8 de Blanco

I suggest checking happy hour times – you can score some amazing drink deals! I got a couple of cocktails for half price, which was a nice surprise.

i recommend trying their signature cocktails – they're unique and worth every penny. i loved the 'blanco especial', and it made my night!

Look out for any local events or tournaments when you're there. My visit coincided with a pool tournament, and it was a fun experience watching the skilled players!

Bring cash. Some places in San Juan, including El 8 de Blanco, are cash-only for certain transactions, so it's good to be prepared.
Toro Verde

I suggest getting there right when they open at 9 AM to beat the crowds and get the best experience. It was so much more chill and we got through the lines faster

I highly recommend trying the zip line, it's insane! But keep in mind that they do have weight limits, which I wasn't aware of until I got there.

Make sure to wear closed-toe shoes! I saw a ton of folks getting turned away for wearing sandals. Don't let that happen to you!

If you're looking to save a few bucks, try bringing your own snacks and drinks. The food options in the park were pretty pricey and we ended up spending more than expected.
Guanica Dry Forest Reserve

Wear sturdy shoes! Some trails are rockier than they look. I saw people struggling with flip-flops, and trust me, you don't want to turn an adventure into a sore-footed trek.

Bring plenty of water and snacks! The trails can get really hot and tiring, especially in the afternoon. I learned that the hard way and regretted not packing more.

Check out the visitor center before you start. They have some cool info about the flora and fauna. Plus, I found out about trails I didn't even know existed and got a better plan for my hike!

Download an offline map before you hit the trail... There’s limited cell service, and it can be tricky to navigate without one... You'll save yourself some wandering time!
Altitude Trampoline Park Gurabo
Carabali Rainforest Park

Definitely check out the combo packages for activities like horseback riding and ATVs to save some cash. I thought it was a good deal to try a bit of everything

If you are taking a guided tour, my advice is to ask questions! The guides are super knowledgeable and I learned so much more just by engaging with them.

Bring bug spray! I didn’t think it would be a big deal, but the mosquitoes were pretty bothersome in the more forested areas.
Cabo Rojo Wildlife Refuge
Jobos Beach
My advice is to check the tide schedule before you go. The beach can change a lot depending on the tides, and you want to hit it when the waves are just right for your skill level!

If you're looking to surf, I think catching the waves early, around 8 AM, is the way to go. The water's calmer and it's less crowded then, giving you space to practice!
Jose Miguel Agrelot Coliseum
I found that parking can get pretty crazy before games, so I suggest arriving at least two hours early to snag a good spot and soak in the atmosphere.
