If you can, try to visit in the fall. The autumn foliage is absolutely stunning and usually less crowded, which makes for a magical hiking experience!

Make sure to wear good shoes, as some trails can get really rocky and slippery. I slipped a few times and learned my lesson the hard way!

Don't underestimate the changing weather. I suggest bringing a light rain jacket and layers, even if the forecast looks clear. The weather can be kinda moody up there!
Elbrus
Solovetsky Islands
If you're not a fan of tourist traps, skip the guided boat tours. I did one and it was crowded; exploring on my own was way more enjoyable and I saw more!

I suggest downloading a good offline map. The cell service can be spotty and getting lost while trekking is not fun. I wish I had done that earlier!
Curonian Spit
Vottvovaara

Check the weather before you go! I didn't and got caught in the rain. It turned my experience less enjoyable, so come prepared with a poncho or an umbrella.

I suggest packing some snacks, because there aren't many places to buy food around. I was starving halfway through my hike and ended up paying a premium at a tiny kiosk

If you're planning to hike, wear sturdy shoes! I made the mistake of wearing sneakers and regretted it. The terrain can get super rugged, so good boots will save your feet and time.

Start your hike early around 8 AM to avoid the crowds. I went around 10, and it was packed! Early birds get the best views and a more peaceful experience.
