The Bolshoi Theatre

Arrive at least 45 minutes before your show to soak in the stunning architecture and take some photos without the big crowds. Trust me, it’s worth it.

Check out the Bolshoi’s website for special promotions or discounts for students and seniors. I stumbled upon a great deal that saved me quite a bit!

The opera house has a lovely cafe inside, but it's a bit pricey. I suggest grabbing a bite at a nearby cafe before the show instead, there are lots of good options around!
Mariinskii Opera House

My advice is to explore the opera house with no expectations. I thought I’d be bored, but the talent was off the charts! You might just find yourself loving it.

I suggest arriving around 6 PM for evening performances. You can grab a bite nearby and soak in the atmosphere while the sun sets over the Neva River.

Check the schedule for dress rehearsals. They’re sometimes cheaper than main events and give you a neat behind-the-scenes vibe without breaking the bank.
