Viharamahadevi Park
Horton Plains National Park
Start your hike early, around 6 AM. The fog is usually thicker later in the day, and you’ll want to catch the sunrise at World's End without the clouds blocking the view.
Udawalawe National Park
Keep an eye on your belongings. I didn’t have any issues, but I heard stories of some people having small items stolen from their jeeps.
I think it's best to book a jeep in advance, especially during peak season. I did this last minute and ended up paying more than I would have liked.
My advice is to take a packed breakfast with you. There aren't many food options inside the park, and it's nice to have a snack while you watch elephants!
I suggest visiting the Udawalawe Elephant Transit Home before or after your safari. It's a cool place to see rescued elephants, and it's quite close to the park entrance.
Wilpattu
I recommend visiting Wilpattu during the early morning, around 6 AM, when the wildlife is most active. You’ll have a higher chance of spotting leopards and other animals, trust me, it's worth it!
I think it’s smart to hire a local guide instead of a park ranger. The guides I met had so much knowledge about the area and the wildlife; they made my experience way better than I expected.
Yala National Park
My advice is to go for the morning safari at around 6 AM. The wildlife is more active then, and you'll catch some amazing sightings. Trust me, the sunrise over the park is breath-taking!
