Viharamahadevi Park

If you're into photography, late afternoon around 5 PM offers beautiful light for capturing the park's scenery. I almost missed the perfect sunset shot, so plan for it!

Check out the giant Buddha statue and the fountains in the park—they’re gorgeous! I recommend planning some time just to sit and take it all in; it's a lovely spot to relax.
Horton Plains National Park

Wear good hiking shoes. Some paths can be a bit muddy and slippery, especially after rain. Trust me, you don’t want to be slipping around on your adventure!

If you're hoping to see wildlife be as quiet as possible and keep your eyes peeled. I saw a few deer and tons of cool birds but making noise scared them away quickly!

don't miss the circular trail around the park; it’s more than just about world’s end. the views along the way are stunning and give a great mix of the park's beauty!

Pack a light breakfast or snacks. The trails are longer than they seem, and I wish I’d had some food on me instead of relying on the sparse options at the visitor center.
Udawalawe National Park

I recommend getting to the park right at 6 AM when it opens. The early morning light is perfect for photos, and the animals are more active before it gets too hot.

Keep an eye on your belongings. I didn’t have any issues, but I heard stories of some people having small items stolen from their jeeps.

I think it's best to book a jeep in advance, especially during peak season. I did this last minute and ended up paying more than I would have liked.

My advice is to take a packed breakfast with you. There aren't many food options inside the park, and it's nice to have a snack while you watch elephants!
Wilpattu

I suggest wearing light, neutral-colored clothing to blend into the environment. It helps you feel more connected and you might be surprised by the number of animals you can see. I saw some great wildlife because of it

My advice is to bring your own snacks and water. The park’s kiosks are limited and overpriced. I learned the hard way and ended up having a grumbling stomach mid-safari!

I recommend visiting Wilpattu during the early morning, around 6 AM, when the wildlife is most active. You’ll have a higher chance of spotting leopards and other animals, trust me, it's worth it!

I think it’s smart to hire a local guide instead of a park ranger. The guides I met had so much knowledge about the area and the wildlife; they made my experience way better than I expected.
Yala National Park

My advice is to go for the morning safari at around 6 AM. The wildlife is more active then, and you'll catch some amazing sightings. Trust me, the sunrise over the park is breath-taking!
