Kendwa Beach

Don’t miss the sunset! Head to the beach around 6 PM. It’s a magical experience, and the pictures are absolutely worth it. Grab a drink from a local beach bar and just enjoy the vibe!

Bring cash! Some beach bars and vendors don’t accept cards. I learned the hard way when I couldn't buy a drink on the beach. Plus, you might get better prices for lounging chairs if you can negotiate cash deals.

Consider renting a bike to explore nearby areas. I wish I had done this! It’s a fun and cheap way to see more of the island beyond the beach.

If you're into snorkeling, check out the coral reefs around 10 AM when the tide is high. The visibility is at its best then, and you’ll see so much more than just the shoreline!
Nungwi Beach

Rent a scooter to explore nearby beaches like Kendwa. I think it’s way more fun than sticking to just Nungwi, and you’ll save money on transport if you want to hop around.
Matemwe Beach

I recommend bringing some cash, as not all places accept cards. I ended up searching for an ATM, which wasted a bit of my day. Just be prepared!
I suggest you go for a stroll at sunrise around 6 AM. The beach looks incredible, and you'll avoid the heat and crowds. Trust me, the early morning vibes are worth it!

Next time, I think I'll rent a bike for the day! It's a fun way to explore the area, plus you'll get to see some places you might miss if you're just chilling at the beach.
Mnemba

I recommend booking your diving trip in advance, especially during peak season. We ended up missing out on a few spots because they were fully booked! Just plan ahead a bit.

I suggest bringing a waterproof bag for your valuables. I almost lost my phone to a wave, and trust me, it’s a hassle to deal with wet electronics

Pack your own snacks and drinks. The food at Mnemba is pretty pricey compared to local shops. We felt like we overspent a bit there.
Stone Town Beach

Try to chat with local fishermen about their daily catch! They might share some great spots for snokeling that aren’t in the usual guidebooks. It made my experience feel much more personal and fun!
Bring your own snorkel gear if you can! Rentals can add up, plus some spots might not have what you need. I wish I had known this before I rented expensive gear on my last trip.
Muyuni Beach

If you want the best photos, visit around 5 PM for that golden hour light. Trust me, the sunsets are stunning and totally worth it!

I suggest bringing your own snacks and drinks, as beachside vendors can be pricey and it's tough to find food nearby. I saved a lot by packing a cooler.
Misali Island Beach

My advice is to check the tides! I didn’t realize that the best snorkeling spots were only accessible a few hours before high tide. Plan your timing right to save time and make the most of it!
Coco Beach

I suggest bringing some snacks and drinks from home because the beachside vendors can be a bit pricey. I wish I'd done this to save some cash and have more options while relaxing on the sand.
