Luray Caverns
If you can, check out the nearby gardens after your cavern visit. It's a nice way to relax and cool off, especially after that underground vibe.
Carlsbad Caverns
My advice is to wear good walking shoes. Some paths can get slippery, and you don’t want to risk a fall while marveling at the views.
Consider buying a national parks pass if you plan to visit other parks in the area. It saves you some cash!
If you're planning to take a lot of photos, a lightweight tripod is a lifesaver. The lighting in there can be tricky, and you’ll want to capture those stunning rock formations without blur.
Mammoth Cave National Park
My advice is to wear good walking shoes! The trails can be uneven, and I regretted my choice of flip flops halfway through the cave.
I recommend bringing a water bottle and snacks. There are not many places to grab a bite inside the park, and I was starving after the tour.
Wind Cave National Park
If you're looking to save some cash, pack a picnic! The views are so nice, and there are great spots to eat outside instead of spending at the visitor center
I think you should definitely make time for the scenic drives in the park. They're breathtaking and a nice break from cave exploring.
Cosmic Cavern
I recommend wearing good shoes—non-slip ones are a must! Some parts can be slippery and uneven, so you want to make sure you’re stable
Jewel Cave National Monument
If you're planning to take photos, go with a camera that does well in low light. My phone shots didn’t capture the beauty of the cave at all!
Onondaga Cave
Consider booking your tickets online ahead of time. I saved a few bucks that way and avoided long lines at the entrance!
Stephens Gap
I recommend wearing sturdy shoes with good grip. Trust me, the terrain can get slippery, especially near the cave entrances. I almost took a spill and it wasn't fun!
I suggest downloading a good caving app or map before you go. GPS might not work well inside, and getting lost in those stunning caverns doesn't sound like fun!
Ellison’s Cave
I suggest getting there by 9 AM if you want to avoid the crowds and have a more peaceful experience exploring the cave. It gets busy later on, and you'll appreciate the quieter moments.
