Robert Mondavi Winery
Nelson's Green Brier Distillery
I think you should check out the cocktail bar after the tour. They have some super unique drinks, and it’s a nice place to chill after the tasting. Just watch the prices - can get a little pricey!
If you're planning on buying anything from the gift shop, my advice is to check for special sales or discounts. I found some cool swag at a lower price that wasn’t advertised.
Biltmore Estate Winery
I think it’s smart to bring a picnic if you're planning to stay for a while. The estate is beautiful, and eating outside can save you $$ compared to the restaurants.
I recommend buying a wine and food pairing ticket if you're a foodie. It's a bit more money, but the experience really enhances the tasting. Totally worth it!
I suggest checking out the winery's schedule before you go; they often have complimentary tastings or special events that aren't advertised widely. It’s a nice surprise!
City Winery
I suggest checking their event calendar before you go, as some nights have special shows or wine tastings that can really enhance your experience. I missed out on a cool event!
I recommend trying the charcuterie board; it’s a perfect match for the wine selections! However, don’t be shy to ask for more bread if you run out – they’re usually happy to provide it
I think the service can be a bit slow during busy nights, so have your drink order ready when the server arrives to save time. Trust me, it can make a big difference!
My advice is to arrive by 5 PM to snag a good table with a view of the stage. The prime spots fill up fast and you don’t wanna miss the music!
Williamsburg Winery
I recommend booking a tasting in advance, especially on weekends. We didn't, and had to wait for a while because they get busy quickly.
I think the outdoor seating is a must! Grab a bottle and relax outside. Just be wary of the bees as they seemed to be everywhere. A bit annoying but worth it!
I suggest starting your visit around 3 PM. You can catch the late afternoon sun, and it’s less crowded, so you have more time to enjoy the wines without feeling rushed.
Caraccioli Cellars
Bring a picnic! The outdoor area is lovely and you can enjoy their wines with your own snacks. Just make sure to ask if it's allowed when you arrive.
Try the sparkling wines – they are fantastic! I wasn't expecting to love them so much. You’ll want to get your tastings, but don't miss out on these gems.
Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey
Try the tasting flight at the end of the tour. It’s a great way to sample a variety of their whiskeys, and it's super affordable compared to ordering individual drinks.
Ask the guides about the distillation process. They love sharing stories and insights, and I learned so much that made the experience even more rewarding.
Make sure to book your tour in advance. They can fill up quickly, especially on weekends. I almost missed out because I didn't plan ahead!
Silver Hand Meadery
Don't forget to ask about the special flavors or seasonal meads. I stumbled upon a limited edition that was amazing. Totally worth it!
Great Lakes Distillery & Tasting Room
Ask about the cocktail flights! They have great pairings that you won’t find on the menu. It’s a fun way to explore different flavors without spending too much.
Balistreri Vineyards
I recommend trying their tasting flights; they’re a good deal! You can sample different wines without splurging on a full bottle straight away
My advice is to bring a picnic. They allow outside food, and enjoying their wine with some snacks in the garden area was a highlight of my visit.
