Luray Caverns
If you can, check out the nearby gardens after your cavern visit. It's a nice way to relax and cool off, especially after that underground vibe.
Carlsbad Caverns
My advice is to wear good walking shoes. Some paths can get slippery, and you don’t want to risk a fall while marveling at the views.
Consider buying a national parks pass if you plan to visit other parks in the area. It saves you some cash!
If you're planning to take a lot of photos, a lightweight tripod is a lifesaver. The lighting in there can be tricky, and you’ll want to capture those stunning rock formations without blur.
Mammoth Cave
Pack a light jacket, even in summer! The cave can be chilly, and I wished I had one for my visit.
Cave of the Winds
I found the ponchos they give you surprisingly useful, but bring a backpack for extra clothes! I wish I’d thought of it, ‘cause I was soaked and cold afterwards
Be ready to hike up and down the stairs! The views are worth it, but my legs were killing me after. I think taking your time helps you enjoy the scenery better.
My advice is to visit on a weekday, specially Tuesday or Wednesday. The weekend crowds can be overwhelming, and you’ll get way better photos without a bunch of other people in them.
I suggest wearing waterproof shoes! Trust me, you’ll thank yourself later when you’re splashing around in the wet zone. I wore flip-flops and my feet were freezing!
Cave of the Winds Mountain Park
My advice is to wear water-proof shoes! You'll definitely get wet near the waterfalls, and trust me, flip-flops won't cut it!
Mammoth Cave National Park
My advice is to wear good walking shoes! The trails can be uneven, and I regretted my choice of flip flops halfway through the cave.
I recommend bringing a water bottle and snacks. There are not many places to grab a bite inside the park, and I was starving after the tour.
Louisville Mega Cavern
My advice is to bring some snacks. The food options inside are kind of limited and pricey, so having your own snacks can help save some cash.
Wind Cave National Park
If you're looking to save some cash, pack a picnic! The views are so nice, and there are great spots to eat outside instead of spending at the visitor center
I think you should definitely make time for the scenic drives in the park. They're breathtaking and a nice break from cave exploring.
Ruby Falls
Wear comfortable shoes! The paths can get a little slippery and uneven, so you'll want to be sure you're steady on your feet.
Plan to wrap up your visit by 5 PM. That way you can catch the sunset views from the lookout—it’s absolutely stunning!
Montezuma Well
i recommend heading out early, like around 8 am, to avoid the bigger crowds and enjoy some peaceful exploration. the sunrise over the well is stunning, too!
Make sure to bring a good water bottle and snacks! There aren’t many places to grab a bite nearby, so you'll want to be prepared
