I think staying in a lodge nearby is better than the hotels in the town. It’s closer to the park and saves you time on travel, plus the views are breathtaking!
My advice is to take the train ride through the park around 3 PM. The views are stunning at sunset, and the animals come out more then.
I suggest bringing cash for entry fees and souvenirs, as some places don’t accept cards. Trust me, you'll save a bit and avoid the fuss of finding an ATM.
Pamuzinda Safari Lodge
I suggest booking a sunset game drive; it's super magical and you won't regret it! Just make sure to bring a sweater; it gets chilly when the sun goes down.
My advice is to pack snacks. The lodge food is good, but some meals can be a bit slow; having some munchies on hand saved me from starving between meals.
Chinhoyi Caves
Matobo National Park
Definitely try to book your entry tickets online ahead of time. I waited in line for ages when I got there, and it was a bit of a bummer. Just a few clicks could save you a lot of time!
Huange National Park
Matusadona National Park
Lake Chivero Recreational Park
I recommend going during the weekdays if you can. It was way less crowded, which made the whole experience much more enjoyable. Plus, you might snag a better deal on boat rentals if you ask nice.
