South Park

My advice is to wear comfy shoes since you’ll likely walk more than you planned. The paths can be a bit uneven in certain areas, so be prepared!

Look out for the playground area if you have kids. It’s not too crowded and they can have a blast while you relax nearby. Just remember sunscreen if it’s sunny!

Bring your own snacks! I found that the food options in the park are limited and a bit pricey. Pack a picnic and enjoy it on one of the lovely benches instead.
Borisova Gradina

If you're planning to grab a snack, check out the small cafes inside the park, but I recommend bringing your own picnic. It's a great way to save some cash while enjoying the lush surroundings.

If you're into art, don’t skip the monuments scattered around the park. They're often overlooked but add a unique touch to the visit. I found them really interesting!
Try to visit in the early morning around 8 AM. The park is less crowded then and you can enjoy the peaceful beauty without the noise of other tourists.

My advice is to wear comfy shoes! There are lots of paths to explore, and you'll want to walk around and take it all in. Flip-flops probably won't cut it.
Prohodna Cave
Boyana Waterfalls

Don't rush the hike! I was so excited to see the waterfalls that I skipped taking my time to enjoy the beautiful views. Savor every moment and take lots of photos!

Bring water and some snacks! There's a lovely spot to chill and enjoy the view once you reach the falls, but I wish I'd had a sandwich to really savor the moment.
Waterfall Kostenets

If you’re driving, make sure to download offline maps. The phone signal gets spotty, and I got lost once even though I used GPS!

My advice is to bring snacks and water. There aren't many facilities nearby, so having a little picnic by the waterfall was a highlight for me!

I recommend visiting on a weekday, preferably around 10 AM. It was way less crowded and I could enjoy the peace and beauty of the waterfall without the noise.
Rila Park

If you can, visit early in the morning around 8 AM. The park is quieter, and you can enjoy the serene beauty before the crowds roll in. Trust me, it really makes a difference!

If you want to catch the sunset, head to the higher viewpoints around 6 PM. The views are stunning, and the park feels magical! Just bring a light jacket as it can get chilly.

Check out the local wildlife! I spotted some amazing birds, but you will need to be patient. Grab a little guidebook or download an app to help identify them!

Look for the little hidden spots off the main trails. Some of the best views and peaceful moments I had were away from the busy areas, so don't be afraid to explore a bit!
Devetashka Cave
Saeva Dupka Cave

If you can, go for the 10 AM tour; it’s way less crowded and you’ll get a more intimate experience with the guide. Trust me, you’ll have time to ask questions without a rush.

Check the weather beforehand. If it's been rainy, the paths might be muddy and slippery, so wear sturdy shoes. I slipped a bit, and it would have been better with my hiking boots!
Doctors Garden
Bring a picnic. The gardens are a perfect spot to relax and soak up the sun. Plus, it's way cheaper than eating out.

If you're visiting on the weekend, try to get there around 9 AM. It's way less crowded, and you can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere before families arrive.

Check out the local art installations scattered around the park. Some of them are really cool and make for great photos. Don't rush past them!

I suggest wearing comfortable shoes; the paths are nice but can be uneven. Trust me, you'll want to explore without worrying about your feet!
