Baldi Hot Springs Resort Hotel & Spa
Ecotermales Fortuna
i suggest arriving just before it opens around 10 am. you'll avoid the crowds and get to enjoy the hot springs in peace. plus, the morning light is beautiful.

Definitely get there by 3 PM! The crowds start thinning out and you'll have the pools almost to yourself during sunset. Such a beautiful vibe!

If you can, skip the restaurant inside and bring some snacks or a light meal. The food is okay but you can save money and enjoy a picnic by the springs instead

Check out the smaller pools first. I found the bigger ones were too crowded at times, and the quieter spots were way more relaxing.
Tabacon Hot Springs

I suggest taking a walk on the trails nearby after your soak. It’s a relaxed hike and you get to see some gorgeous nature, but don’t forget bug spray!

If you're into adventures, don’t miss the evening package! The springs are lit up at night and it feels magical. Just check the weather though - it may rain!

I think you should definitely bring your own snacks and drinks. The places inside can be pricey, and you might get hungry after all that soaking!

My tip is to wear water shoes; the rocks can be a bit slippery, and you'll enjoy the pools much more without worrying about slipping. I learned this the hard way!
Baldi Hot Springs

Don’t miss the swim-up bar—try the local cocktails! It’s a fun way to kick back and enjoy your time there. Just remember to hydrate, too!

Try to arrive right when they open at 10 AM. You’ll get some quieter moments in the hot springs before the crowds flock in later.

I recommend visiting on a weekday if you can. The weekends can get super crowded, and you’ll have a more relaxing experience without the rush.

Check the weather beforehand. It can rain unexpectedly; I brought a poncho and it saved my day from getting soaked while enjoying the pools
Volkan Arenal

I suggest checking out the local hot springs, they’re amazing! Many places offer all-day access for about $50, but I found some cheaper options that were just as relaxing. Ask the locals for their favorites!
My advice is to pack some snacks and water when hiking around the volcano area. The little shops can be pricey and the trails can take longer than expected, trust me on this

If you plan to do the hike around the volcano, get there by 8 AM. It’s cooler, way less crowded, and you might spot more wildlife going about their day. I kinda regret sleeping in a bit!
Arenal Volcano National Park

Skipping the buffet at the park's restaurant could save you some bucks. There’s a local food stall just outside that serves amazing food for way less. I ate there both days!

Watch out for the weather! Mornings can be great but I had a downpour in the afternoon. Bring a poncho just in case; it’ll save you from getting soaked!
Mistico Arenal Hanging Bridges Park

Consider bringing binoculars for birdwatching. I missed some cool sightings because I didn’t have mine, and I regretted it!

Wear comfy shoes because some parts can get slippery, and the trails are longer than you'd expect. Trust me, flip-flops won't cut it.

Try to get there around 8 AM when the park opens. The morning fog adds a magical touch and you'll avoid the crowds.

Don't skip the interpretation center before entering the trails. It gives great insights about the flora and fauna - so worth it!
Kalambu Hot Springs

I recommend arriving right when they open at 10 AM to snag a good spot by the pools before it gets crowded. The morning is super peaceful, and the mist from the hot springs feels magical

If you can, try to visit on a weekday instead of the weekend! It gets super crowded on Saturdays and Sundays, so you can enjoy a more relaxed vibe if you go from Monday to Thursday.

Bring your own water shoes! The rocks can be slippery, and they have a few rentals, but I found it way more comfortable to have my own. Plus, you'll save a little cash!

I suggest bringing some cash for tips and small purchases. Even if a lot of places accept cards, some local vendors only take cash.
La Fortuna Waterfall
I recommend packing a picnic—there are beautiful spots to chill and enjoy the scenery after the hike. Plus, the food at the little shop there is a bit pricey!
