Basilica of Notre Dame de la Garde
I recommend visiting on a sunny day; the views of Marseille and the sea are absolutely magical with the sunlight reflecting off the water. Bring your camera!
Port de Cassis
Marseille Cathedral
I think visiting on a weekday is best. I went on a Saturday and it was packed! The tranquility really adds to the beauty of the place.
Don't just stick to the main cathedral – check out the little chapel nearby. It's super peaceful and way less crowded. I loved the contrast!
I suggest using public transport to get there. The metro is cheap and stops nearby. Parking can be a nightmare, especially during peak times, trust me!
Palace of Festivals and Congresses
Bring a water bottle. I didn't, and I ended up overpaying for drinks. There's a fountain nearby where you can refill, save your coins
Old Port of Cannes
Start your day around 8 AM to enjoy the sunrise over the port without the crowds. It’s a peaceful time to take photos and soak in the views.
Take a stroll along the Quai Saint-Pierre to admire the yachts and pastel-colored buildings. The architecture is stunning, and it's less busy than the main promenade.
Marche Forville
My advice is to take a stroll around before you start shopping. I spent too much time at just a few stalls, and I missed out on some amazing finds on the other side of the market!
If you're looking to save a few bucks, bring your own reusable bag. The vendors are way more likely to give you a small discount if you don’t need their plastic bags.
Definitely try the local olives and cheeses from the stalls! I think the prices are super reasonable, and it’s great to snack while you stroll. But watch out, it can get a bit salty if you go crazy!
Friche Belle de Mai
Check the schedule before you go! They often have cool events, performances, or art exhibits that you won’t want to miss. I happened to stumble into a special show, and it was a highlight of my visit!
Wear comfy shoes and be prepared to walk. The place is huge and you'll definitely want to explore every corner without hurrying. I wore sandals and regretted it by the end of the day!
Bring your own snacks or drinks. There are small cafes, but food can be pricey. I packed a light lunch and found a nice spot to enjoy it while soaking in the art!
Palais du Pharo
I suggest grabbing a coffee at the little café nearby before touring the garden; it’s a nice spot to relax and enjoy the view. You’ll thank yourself for the breather!
I think it’s worth taking an hour to explore the surrounding park. The gardens are beautiful and it’s a quiet escape from the city. Plus, great photo spots!
Abbey of Saint-Victor
I suggest visiting the Abbey early in the morning, around 9 AM, to avoid the crowds. Trust me, the peacefulness at that time is worth it.
My advice is to bring some water and snacks. The café nearby can get pricey, and a short break inside the Abbey’s gardens is lovely.
La Vieille Charite
If you can, grab a coffee at the café nearby before heading in. It's a relaxing spot and gives you some energy for exploring! Plus, prices there are pretty reasonable.
I recommend bringing a camera for the courtyard—it's gorgeous! However, be aware of some odd lighting; I didn't think about that and got some blurry pics. A little research on timing might help.
