Cologne Cathedral

Do yourself a favor and visit around 9 AM when it opens. It was way less crowded and I could really soak in the beauty without dodging a ton of tourists.

Try to catch one of the choral services if you can; it was such a beautiful experience and absolutely free! A perfect way to enjoy the acoustics of the cathedral.

If you're on a budget, skip the audio guide. I found plenty of info online and through the pamphlet they give. My advice is to save those euros for a nice bratwurst instead!

Bring a good camera or your phone charged. The intricate details on the outside and inside are just stunning. You won’t want to miss capturing those, trust me.
Cologne Chocolate Museum

I noticed that the café inside can be pricy. I’d say grab snacks before you go, then treat yourself to hot chocolate right after the tour. Much more satisfying!

Don't miss the chocolate fountain in the middle! I think it's a magical experience to dip fresh fruit in it. But, keep an eye on the timing—it gets super busy around lunch!
Heidelberg Castle
House History FRG
German Tank Museum

You might wanna check out their website before going. I found some discount tickets online that saved me a few bucks on entry fees. Definitely worth it!

I think lunch at the café is worth skipping. It’s kinda pricey for what you get. Instead, bring a sandwich and enjoy it in the outdoor area near the tanks.

If you’re a fan of model tanks, they have some really cool ones in the shop. I recommend budgeting a little for souvenirs - they had some neat stuff I didn't expect!

My advice is to download the audio guide. It’s only a couple of euros more, but it really brings some of the exhibits to life, plus it helped me understand the history better.
Deutsches Marinemuseum Wilhelmshaven

I suggest grabbing a bite at the museum café before heading in. The prices are decent, and you’ll want the energy to explore!
Castle Drachenburg
Kunst- und Ausstellungshalle der Bundesrepublik
Museum Ludwig

Buy your tickets online to save some time. The line can be super long at peak times, and nobody wants to waste time standing around.

I think the audio guide is worth it! It really enriches the experience and helps you understand the art more. Just don't forget your headphones!
German Coal Museum

If you’re going to take the guided tour, be sure to get a ticket in advance. I almost missed out because they were sold out!

Definitely grab a bite at the museum's café after your visit. I thought it was just going to be snacky stuff, but they had some great hearty meals.

I suggest heading there right at 10 AM when they open. It gets packed quick, and the early bird gets the best exhibits without the crowds.
My advice is to wear comfy shoes. You’ll be walking around quite a bit, and those coal mine exhibitions are super fascinating but they’ll tire ya out!
