Volcano Bromo

Bring some cash for entrance fees and snacks – some places don’t take cards, and trust me, you don't want to miss out on trying local food.

If you can, rent a scooter to explore the area. It’ll save you money and give you the freedom to check out hidden spots without depending on tours.

I recommend getting to the viewpoint around 3 AM to catch that stunning sunrise... It’s worth the early wake-up call!
Ijen

I suggest starting your hike around 2 AM. The sunrise view is absolutely stunning and def worth the early wake-up! Plus, you'll beat most of the crowd. Trust me, you don’t want to hike in the heat later.

I recommend packing some snacks and water. There are spots to buy food, but they can be pricey and not the best quality. I totally regretted not bringing my own stuff.
Kelud
Tumpak Sewu Waterfall

My advice is to wear good trekking shoes! I made the mistake of wearing flip flops and regretted it instantly. The trek can be muddy and slippery!
I suggest visiting Tumpak Sewu around 7 AM. The morning light is perfect for photos and it’s way less crowded so you get to enjoy the view in peace.

I recomment bringing some snacks and water... The trek is pretty demanding, and there aren’t any vendors right by the waterfall... Plus, it saves you some cash!

don’t forget to bring a rain jacket or poncho. it can get misty from the waterfall spray, and i got soaked during my visit! a bit of prep can keep you dry.
Semeru

I recommend packing snacks but skip the store-bought trail mix. I got some fresh local fruits and nuts, way tastier and cheaper! Plus, it’s a nice boost of energy.
Goa Gong

I recommend wearing good shoes. The cave has some slippery spots and tricky areas, so a solid pair of sneakers will really help you balance. Trust me, I learned that the hard way.
I suggest checking the weather before you go. The cave can get muddy and uncomfortable if it rains, and it can ruin your experience. Save yourself the hassle and pick a clear day instead!
Kawi

I recommend packing some snacks before you head up Kawi. There are no shops once you're on the trail, and I've learned the hard way that hiking on an empty stomach isn't fun. Plus, it saves you some cash!

Bring a light jacket, especially if you’re planning on catching the sunrise. It gets pretty chilly up there in the early morning, but the view is totally worth it!

My advice is to hire a local guide. They not only know the best paths, but they also share cool stories about the area! I didn’t do it the first time and missed out on some interesting bits!
Arjuno
Raung

I suggest bringing cash for local food stalls in nearby villages; they offer delicious meals at a fraction of the price compared to restaurants in bigger towns. Trust me, it's worth it!
