Sapporo Odori Park
I suggest avoiding weekends if you can. It gets really crowded with local events, and finding a peaceful spot to sit becomes hard.
If you're into photography, come during the golden hour – the park looks magical then. I missed out on this and regretted it!
I recommend visiting early in the morning, like around 7 am. The park is super peaceful, and you can enjoy the morning breeze without the crowds.
My advice is to bring a light picnic. There are plenty of green spots to chill, and grabbing a snack from a nearby konbini is budget-friendly and delish.
Maruyama Park
If you're aiming for great photos, try to visit early in the morning around 7 am when the light is soft and the park is less crowded. I learned this the hard way!
There's a small entry fee for some of the attractions in the park, but I found that just walking around was the best part—a beautiful nature walk totally free!
If you're into hiking, head up to Maruyama Mountain. It's a bit of a trek but totally worth it for the views. Give yourself about an hour to reach the top.
Check out the cherry blossoms if you're visiting in spring—they're stunning! But be warned, the crowd can get intense, so maybe come mid-week if you can.
Hoheikyo Hot Spring
Nakajima Park
Consider renting a bike to explore the park. It sounds great in theory but the bike rental station can get crowded. Try to go mid-afternoon if you want to avoid lines.
My advice is to bring a camera with good zoom capabilities. The wildlife, especially the swans and ducks, are amazing to capture up close!
Sapporo City Maruyama Zoo
Don't rush through! There's a lot of interesting info on the animal exhibits. Take your time, and enjoy the little details. I wished I had lingered longer.
Bring a picnic lunch. The zoo has some nice spots to eat, and it saves you money on overpriced snacks.
if you're on a budget, look for discount tickets online before your visit. i saved a few hundred yen that way!
Moerenuma Park
If you can visit on a weekday. The weekends can get pretty crowded and you might miss the beautiful quiet vibe of the park. Plus you'll have more space for those awesome photos!
Mt. Moiwa
I suggest visiting right before sunset; the view is absolutely breathtaking and you can catch both day and night scenes in one go. Just make sure to check the sunset time beforehand!
My advice is to grab a few snacks at the base before heading up. The prices at the observation deck can be a bit steep plus you'll want some energy for the hike back down!
Takino Suzuran Hillside Park
My advice is to wear comfy shoes. The trails can get pretty hilly and rocky, so you'll wanna be ready for some good walking. Trust me, you'll be glad you did!
I suggest bringing a picnic! The park's great for chilling, and you'll save money if you pack some snacks instead of hitting the cafe. The views while you munch are lovely!
North Safari Sapporo
Asahiyama Memorial Park
I suggest visiting in the late afternoon, around 4 PM, when the crowd thins out, and you can enjoy the sunset views without the hustle and bustle. It's absolutely gorgeous!
I think taking the tram to the park is a great idea to save money on transport. The view during the ride is nice, and it’s way easier than driving around the city.
